OK, First off you do not need to login to view and post in this forum. Sadly, giving this special privilege to all visitors that visit our forum makes abuse of this forum possible. This abuse is most likely to come in the form of harmful links posted by either spam bots or people with bad intentions.
When you see a link in a topic of this forum (especially if posted by a guest), please follow these steps:
* Be skeptical! It's better to miss a useful link than it is to be someone who clicks on everything and end up getting a virus/hacked or both. Always assume that links posted by guests at least might be harmful.
* Look for suspicious signs. Someone with a spam-like name (gv9vqp8), links to things that are not related to our clan or RuneScape (Viagra, free stuff), etc.
* Look for things that seem innocent. "Funny pictures! <Posts a picture> http://www.link-to-more-funny-pictures.com/" Probably not.
* Check to see where a link actually leads. When you hover your mouse over a link, you can see in the bottom left hand corner of your browser where the link actually leads. If something looks like one link, but is actually another link, you should have red flags going up that someone is trying to deceive you.
* Be weary of dangerous file extensions. Look out for links that end with:
o .exe
o .zip
o .rar
Although we try to take care of these links as soon as possible, sometimes one may sneak by us for a time. As a clan member, if you ever find one of these types of links posted in this forum...please report the link immediately to one of the members of leadership, so they may remove it.
